MONTE ARGENTARIO

Argentario was born an island but over the centuries the combined actions of sea currents and Albegna river have created two tombolos: Giannella Tombolo and Feniglia Tombolo, which joined the island to the mainland, thus forming the Orbetello Lagoon. Monte Argentario is characterized by a completely mountainous area, only softened by the work of man who created spaces to cultivate mainly vineyard. The very jagged coast offers rocky bays and coves of remarkable natural beauty. In this context two towns are inserted, Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole.
