VETULONIA

VETULONIA

Vetulonia is an ancient city of Etruscans which gave the lictor symbols of beans and axe to Rome. Vetulonia touched the height of its splendour between VII and VI centuries b.C. and still retains many memories of its ancient power. Some stretches of the huge Etruscan walls remain and nearby there is the Etruscan Necropolis. LA TOMBA DEL DIAVOLINO and LA TOMBA DELLA PETRERA are among the most outstanding tombs that can be visited on the way to Buriano. In town there is a recent archaelogical museum rich in exhibits of considerable value. The gentle decline of the hills offers a magnificent view to admire.
